There are good people too, but why do we focus on negative things in dramas. I'm not a witch, I'm pretty good too.'

In an exclusive interview with BBC Urdu, Vaneeza Ahmed, who played the lead role of Sofia in the recently aired Pakistani drama Kuch Un Kahi, opened up not only about her role in the drama but also about her personal life. has spoken

Vaneza is playing the role of a loving, caring, and strong Phappo in this drama.

In Pakistani society, it is often seen that the word Phappo and a very negative image are associated with this relationship. Then the same thought is seen many times in Pakistani dramas in which Phappo is often made the villain.

We asked Vaneeza whether the drama 'Kach Un Kahi' will inspire other Pakistani dramas to show Phappo's role positively.

To this, his reply was, "Hopefully, many stereotypes will be challenged." He said that in the stories of Pakistani dramas, "Phappo is always portrayed very badly."

There are also good buds. As Sophia is a loving pupu in the play, I am a good pupu myself. My own lungs are also very good.

According to them, in-laws can also be good. "I always say that my mother-in-law is very good, my mother-in-law is very good, she is not a witch mother-in-law, I am not a witch father-in-law."

Sofia's role in the drama 'Kach Un Kahi' is getting a lot of appreciation on social media. In response to a question, Vaneza also said that she is getting a great response for the role.

When asked about the experience of returning to acting after so many years, Vineeza said, "It was very difficult because the habit was gone and I had two children."

I didn't have time but director Nadeem Baig said you will enjoy it. You take the time.

'Leaved 15-year-old factory to raise daughter'

Vaneza stayed away from her professional life for a long time as she decided to prioritize her family over work.

After marriage and the birth of children, Vaneza left work and devoted all her attention to children because according to her, children need a mother in their early years.

"It was my responsibility as a mother, I left the 15-year-old factory to raise my daughter," she says.

On resuming work now, Vaneza says that working hours in the media are very difficult, but nowhere in her words did she feel regret for leaving work.

"Women are not sheep, we are not born to serve man only"

The drama 'Kach Un Kahi highlights many issues and important topics in Pakistani society, such as domestic violence against women, the right to divorce in marriage, and property sharing.

According to Vaneza, plays have the power to bring about change in society, which is why it is so important to discuss these issues.

There are such problems in the society. Women are not aware of their rights and no one lets them raise their voice when they suffer from these problems.

On the subject of divorce in the context of marriage in the play, Vaneza said that despite being a strong and independent woman, at the time of her own marriage, 'no one wanted to talk about marriage' and her mother, like herself, The dowry of Vaniza was kept only Rs 24.

Later, I argued with him that your marriage was 50 years ago. In today's era, 24 rupees is worth nothing. So if a woman like me could not say anything, then those who are poor cannot say anything.

Vaneza said that the same message has been given to women in 'Kach Un Kahi' that they should raise their voices for their rights.

Women are not sheep. Man does not rule. We were not born just to serve man.

"Maybe Sofia is stronger than me"

Vaneza says that Sofia's character is a role model for other women and she aspires to be like Sofia in her real life.

Sophia's role in the play is that of a very strong woman who not only knows how to fight for her rights but is also not afraid to raise her voice for the rights of others.

According to Vaneza, "Sofia's character is very close to my own personality, but maybe Sofia is stronger."

"Sometimes I keep quiet about things, but Sofia doesn't." During the shooting of the drama, I used to say no, how can I say this to my brother or sister-in-law, but Ahmed and Nadeem used to say that it is not you, Sofia is saying it.

When it came to her relationship with the play's cast, there was a palpable joy in Vaneza's tone. He said that I call them (the entire cast) my new family.

"No professional jelly, everyone was helping me."

"Older people can also have a love story"

The drama also features a love story between Vaneeza and Babar Ali, who both play older roles, which is rarely seen in Pakistani dramas.

Vineeza gave the example of Hollywood and Bollywood characters and said that there should be a love story of older characters in Pakistani media as well.

He said that in the first stories, there were only young couples but now only stories of young people left. Don't old people have stories? Absolutely. Now Samina Ahmed got married at this age, what a beautiful love story.

It is not necessary to comment on every topic on social media.

On the use of social media, Vaneza said that the use of social media as a platform is very important for actors now, but they are not able to use social media much due to a lack of habit and busyness.

She also shies away from sharing her personal life on social media and says that even actors don't have to comment on every topic on social media.

"I don't and there are many people who shouldn't talk, yet they do." It is everyone's personal decision. Celebrities don't necessarily know about everything.

"I joke that wherever you go, you bring a branch."

At the end of the interview, Vaneza gave us a tour of her garden and opened up about her hobby.

Pointing to his garden, he said that it was a completely barren place.

In the garden, he described the characteristics of different plants and flowers planted with his own hands. He said that 'I am the financer here. I joke that wherever I go, I bring a twig.

While his interest in horticulture was evident from his words, his reasons for starting horticulture became even more important.

He said that his daughter has eczema and on the doctor's advice, he planted various plants to freshen and clean the air around his daughter, but later gardening gave him so much relief that his depression was relieved. It was also helpful in reducing

While Vaneza did not let up on her hospitality throughout the interview, she kept checking her watch every now and then to make sure she wasn't late picking up her daughters from school.

As soon as the interview was over, it was time for their daughters to leave and Vaniza left for school.
