A father lost his life trying to save his son from drowning in the sea during a picnic on the beach in West Mersey, England.

David Cole's partner, who tried to save his three-year-old son from drowning, is deeply saddened by the incident.

He said that on June 11, his partner David Cole and his three-year-old son were caught in the waves.

David, 30, held his son's head above the water to ensure his son was unharmed but was unable to protect himself from harm during the effort and never regained consciousness.

David Cole's partner Katie Macdonald is now raising money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) despite the trauma she suffered.

Katie MacDonald thanked the rescue crews for their amazing rescue operations.

'Those moments of helplessness were very difficult'

Katie Macdonald, from Hertfordshire, UK, felt very helpless at the time of the accident. "It was all very scary to have your loved ones in trouble and not be able to help them," she says. Those moments of helplessness were very difficult.

According to Katie, 'The lifeboat crew were very helpful between trying to save my partner's life and then looking after my three-year-old. Had it not been for their help, my three-year-old son would have drowned.

In the immediate aftermath of the accident, a paddle boarder and two lifeguards attempted to rescue David Cole and his son until crews from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution arrived to help.

Katie Macdonald, devastated by the accident, recognizes the virtues of her partner.

'David was an amazing personality and a wonderful father to his children. He used to become children himself with the children and wanted the children to be happy and have fun. He looked for art and fun in everything for children.

Katie praised David's hard work and dedication, saying, "He worked tirelessly at his job and work so that he would not let us lack anything and provide us with everything."

"He is just a hero," he recalled David. A hero who risked his life to save his son's life.

Thanks to the station's volunteer staff for setting up the fundraising page

After the accident, Katie Macdonald is now busy trying to collect donations for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, a charity that helps people in accidents at sea and on the coast, and in just six and a half days on its online page Donations of over £3,000 have been received.

Rick Boreham, a volunteer at West Mersey's Royal National Lifeboat Institution, said staff were 'incredibly grateful' for the campaign.

He said that the volunteers are very grateful for setting up the fundraising page. Katie is cordially invited to visit the station at any time where she will be warmly welcomed.'
