Miss India Travel from Kota
Nandini Gupta from Kota, India has won the title of Miss India for the first time. Nandini has become India's 59th Miss India.
Nandini's family lives in the vegetable market area of Kota. Nandini received her education from a private school in Kota. After that, he took admitted to management studies at Lala Lajpat Rai College, Mumbai.
Along with studying in Mumbai for the past year, Nandini also nurtured her dream of reaching the Miss India stage.
Nandini's father Sumit Gupta, speaking to the BBC on phone, said, "We were very happy when Nandini's name was announced. Then we didn't even look at the stage.
"Nandini used to walk the catwalk from childhood, when she would bring a new dress, she would show it to us and ask how I looked," he says.
Nandini's mother Rekha Gupta says, "Nandini used to dress up and pose as a child." As she grew up, she was inspired by international models and followed them.
"During class 10, Nandini told me that I wanted to go on the Miss India stage. Then I told her that she is still young. Nandini proved herself good in her studies, when she turned 18 we said ok now go for Miss India.''Rekha Gupta says, 'Miss Rajasthan was selected on February 11. Now that she has won the Miss India title, we can't believe that a small-town girl has achieved such a big feat.
Femina will groom her for the 2024 Miss World pageant and then Nandini Gupta will compete in the Miss World pageant sometime later.
Smart in studies
Even in studies from school to college, Nandini never failed the family.
"Nandini studied at St. Paul's School near Kota station," says Sumit Gupta, her father. He secured 90 percent marks in 10th and 92 percent marks in 12th taking commerce subjects.
"Nandini chose Lala Lajpat Rai College in Mumbai's Haji Ali area for her higher education," he says. She is studying management here. He has also secured more than 90% marks in his first year here.
She says that she has not given her second-year exam for Femina Miss India this year. Because he had to go to Manipur for 45 days in March. But the college has allowed Nandini to take the second-year exams after this schedule.
"Nandini's studies will continue," Nandini's mother Rekha Gupta tells the BBC.
Sumit Gupta says, "I told Nandini that education comes first, then you have to get a master's degree in management."
Nandini belongs to a farming family
Nandini was born in 2003. Nandini's younger sister Ananya studies in class 9 in the family. His mother Rekha Gupta is a housewife while his 56-year-old father Sumit Gupta is a farmer.
Sumit tells the BBC that we have 175 bighas of land. My father died in 2000 and since then we have been farming.
He said that 'I and my younger brother do farming. While the elder brother is a retired doctor.
“Besides farming, I used to work as a pollution consultant,” he explains. There were many tasks including water testing and environmental audit. "But since the demonetization and demonetization of the last Modi government, I devote full time to farming."
How is Nandini Gupta's mood?
Sumit Gupta tells the story of Nandini visiting the fields, “Nandini is very friendly with everyone, she is very social. She often visits the fields and talks very gently to the people working and harvesting there.'
Rekha Gupta says, “Nandini is very fond of photography. Always thinking of helping people and doing something for the needy.
“Nandini always keeps chocolates and biscuits in her purse,” she says. And when someone comes to ask her for something, she gives chocolates and biscuits.
"One day we were traveling in Kota," she says. The beggar came, that day there were no chocolates and biscuits in Nandini's purse. I said give money. Then Nandini refused to give money to this beggar and said, "Mother, by giving money, we are only spoiling their habits."
Ever since she won the title of Femina Miss India 2023, her family has been showered with congratulations.
Nandini is being congratulated from across the country, including Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
Nandini's father Sumit Gupta and her younger sister Ananya are currently in Malad, Mumbai. While his mother Rekha is in Bandra with Nandini.
But she says he is with Nandini and he is not. The team of Femina organization is watching all the programs of Nandini.
Asked about Nandini's visit to Kota, Sumit Gupta, her father, says, "Femina Miss India will organize a reception in her hometown (Kota). This program will be for three days. And the time to come to Kota will be fixed in the next few days.
