How did the recent clashes begin?

According to information in the Bushehra area of Upper Kurram, there was a dispute between the people of the Bangash tribe over the Shamilat, on which firing took place and this firing intensified again.

Local journalist Riaz Chamkani said that there were people who were killed and injured in these clashes who had come here from far away.

Locally it was said that people from far away were involved in the clash and in the rest of the area it was assumed that people of the Shia faith were involved. After this, inter-tribal clashes broke out in Lower Kurram and during this time a ceasefire was declared in Upper Kurram.

According to local people, this trend did not stop here and clashes between different tribes have also started in other areas.

In these four days, there are reports of firing in five different areas, in some places it becomes intense and in some places, there are reports of sporadic fire.

Position of tribal leaders?

The main cause of this conflict was the land dispute and this conflict was also between some members of the same tribe, some of the families belonged to the Sunnis and some belonged to the Shiites.

Haji Abid Hussain, the former president of Tehreek Hussaini, who was involved in the negotiations on behalf of Tehreek Hussaini from Karam district, told the BBC that 'Basically, the conflict started with the construction of a room because the people of one tribe wanted to build a room while The other side was not in favor of it and the tension increased and it came to firing in which there was also a loss of life.

He said that after this incident, tension increased on the Pak-Afghan border and firing started between two tribes, which gave rise to the impression that these may be incidents of communal violence.

He said that negotiations are going on and talks are also taking place on both sides and if there is a ceasefire in one place, firing starts in another area.

Similarly, Malik Ataullah Khilji, a member of the negotiation team belonging to Ahlus-Sunnat, told Para Chinar that 'basically, if there is any dispute between the parties and they are discussing it, the rest of the people are not involved. There should be and for this, they are making efforts to establish peace in the area.'

He said that when the dispute arose over the construction of the room in Upper Kurram, the law enforcement officials were present at that time, but the tension started after they left.

He said that it is the responsibility of the government to resolve property disputes immediately so that such incidents do not occur again and the government has not shown any interest in resolving these issues. Stayed.'

He said that now the firing has stopped in Lower Kurram, but the tension is still going on near the Afghan border and some other places.

What do the locals say?

Apart from clashes between local tribes, there have been incidents of communal violence in Karam district in the past and even now some elements of this communal violence continue. But Federal Minister Sajid Hussain Turi says that there is nothing like that, it is only tribal conflicts that started on Shamilat and there are no Shia or Sunni differences in them.

Local journalists said that four days ago in the Bushehra area of Upper Karam, clashes between two tribes belonging to the Bangash tribe had started, which had been trusted with the efforts of the Jirga and the administration.

Local journalist Riyaz Chamkani said that after that, clashes had started in Lower Kurram where different tribes kept firing at each other and fighting.

After that, clashes between different tribes have started in Central Karam today, in which reports of casualties have been received. The local people said that in some places the conditions are better and in other places, the conditions are worse.

Local people said that since the year 2007, this year once again such fierce clashes are taking place and so far the government has not been able to control the situation.

Locals say that these clashes have created fear in the area as heavy gunfire is heard throughout the night.

Federal Minister Sajid Hussain Tori says that he is trying to stop this tension with the help of local administration security officials and tribal elders.
