Abdul Ghaffar is a resident of Tando Adam and five members of his family were killed in the Hazara Express train accident.


Ten coaches of Hazara Express derailed near the Sirhari area of Sanghar district of Sindh on Sunday afternoon, as a result of which more than 30 people were killed and 60 injured.


The majority of those killed in this accident belonged to the Sanghar district of Sindh, only 11 people from Tando Adam City and surrounding areas died in this accident, and most of them have been buried.


"Children were buried at two o'clock in the night"


Local people are coming to condole with Abdul Ghaffar Buzdar in Mohammadi Colony of Tando Adam. They suspect that none of the administration or government representatives came to them for advice.


My family consisted of five members, my wife, a daughter-in-law, a 15-year-old daughter, and two grandchildren. Five members of our family left, and the whole house was destroyed, where will the money come from for the burial of our five members? The government of the time did not think of this and did not give any support, with the help of the neighbors we buried the children at 2 am.


The people of Muhammadi Colony have prepared their help by digging graves under you for the burial of those who died in the train accident.


In the list issued by the government, the names of three members of this family were written, while his grandson named Rahim was said to be a girl, while Abdul Ghaffar had receipts for receiving the bodies of five people.


Abdul Ghaffar complains about the incompetence of the medical staff and claims that his grandson Rahim was breathing, there was no sign of injury on the body, he was not treated properly and the child died due to this negligence. '


'The bodies were unidentifiable'


Abdul Ghaffar's nephew Pyaar Ali Buzdar says that he reached the site of the accident as soon as he got the information about the accident, but the bodies of his loved ones were not there, after which he went to PMC Nawabshah where the family members of the police are not allowed to go to the mortuary. was giving, meanwhile, there was tension there.


He said that the bodies were not able to be identified, the child Rahim was not injured, so he was identified, while the women were identified with the help of clothes and ornaments worn on their hands.


According to Pyaar Ali, 'This is a very difficult phase but one has to be motivated.'


He says that the two-year-old girl's hands and feet were cut off, 15-year-old Hasina's body also had pieces, the hospital administration did not put her dead body in a coffin when it was put in the emulsions from the cold room, the body parts of the dead bodies. were falling.'


According to him, the ambulance service was also available through recommendation. They brought three bodies of their loved ones in one ambulance and the other two later in other ambulances which they paid for themselves.


Among the dead were Saeeda Khilji and her Samdhan who were on their way to Nawabshah. Saida's son Imran's friend Muhammad Kashif said that with his help, he found Imran's mother and mother-in-law at the accident site and shifted them to the hospital.


He alleged that 'no cooperation was being given by the civil hospital administration, the police were misbehaving, we said that we have found them ourselves so the bodies should be handed over to us but no one is ready to listen. was.'


Announcements of help from mosques


Sirhan is 20 km from Nawabshah, a small town where major trains do not stop. After the accident, announcements were made from mosques for people to reach out for help.


Salim Bhangwar, who lives nearby, pulled out eight injured passengers and the dead from the carriages of the train.


He says that when they reached the accident site, some bodies were stuck in the windows of the train carriages, and some were pulled out by straightening the carriages with the help of a crane. He says that some of the injured had broken legs and some had broken arms.


According to Salim Bhangwar, the ambulances arrived late at the accident site before the injured and dead bodies were shifted to the hospital on dump trucks and motorcycles.


Several pictures and videos were shared on social media in which local people were distributing juice, food items, and water to the affected passengers. While due to the large number of injured, the youth of Nawabshah also came to donate blood.


"It was like an earthquake, people were falling on top of each other."


Injured passengers were brought to Nawabshah PMC Hospital due to a lack of facilities at Sirhari Hospital. Of the more than 60 injured, around 20 are currently there.


Among the injured are children whose mothers have died in the train accident.


Mohammad Kashif, a resident of Dadu, was on the bed with his five-year-old daughter who suffered head injuries, while his injured son was sleeping on the other bed.


Mohammad Kashif's wife Naila is her younger sister and Adam had gone to meet her. She was coming to Nawabshah to return to Dadu. She died in this accident while her children are injured.


Kashif said that his wife was angry with him for not calling and said that she was returning by bus. His brother-in-law made him board the train from Tando Adam station.


Fateh Khatun was coming from Tando Adam to attend Nawabshah Muharram Niaz, she was riding in the bogie which was the worst hit, it hit the bridge and plunged into the water. She luckily survived the accident but suffered multiple fractures.


Fateh Khatun says that the vehicle was moving very fast at the time of the accident, it was like an earthquake or a storm, people were falling on each other, and people were in the throes of death.


I thought that we will not survive now, how will we survive such an earthquake, at that time Bogi fell into the water and dived into the water as if my body came to life. I was taken out after about an hour and have been unconscious ever since.


Four coaches on one side of the railway track and six on the other side were lying upside down, while one had hit the bridge of the canal and fell inside. The local people said that most of the casualties occurred in this bogie.


Track maintenance work by hands


Dozens of laborers were seen near Sirhari engaged in the maintenance of the track. There was no intervention.


According to the railway authorities, after the accident, a track was restored in the early morning of Monday, after which the up-and-down movement of the train is taking place on it.


During our presence, a train passed by at a very slow speed while passengers were filming scenes of destruction at the accident site from the windows.


On the other hand, in the joint certificate report of the Hazara Express train accident, the civil department and the mechanical department have been declared responsible for the accident and the possibility of sabotage has been rejected.


In the joint certificate, the cause of the accident has been stated to be broken track and lack of fish plate, and said that the train engine wheel and track defect are also among the causes of the accident.


It is also revealed that there was no fish plate to connect the tracks together.


It should be noted that this was not the first accident. There have been several incidents of train collisions and derailments on this track from Reti to Karachi. There is no example.
