It should be remembered that on May 9, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan was arrested in Islamabad in the Al-Qadir Trust case, immediately after which a series of violent protests started in different cities of the country. As a result of these protests, many important buildings including government and military properties were damaged.


During and after these protests, various types of cases were registered against the leaders and workers of Tehreek-e-Insaf, and on one hand, large-scale arrests of the leaders and workers of Tehreek-e-Insaf started, on the other hand, most of the leaders went into hiding.

Currently, more than a dozen leaders of Tehreek-e-Insaf are under arrest, while some of them have been released after getting relief from the court, while some got bail but were detained again immediately after their release. went.

However, Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, while addressing a press conference on May 17, said that the arrested persons, who will be prosecuted under the Army Act will be decided in the light of law and evidence. Speaking to the BBC on this issue, legal expert and lawyer Asad Jamal said that "most of the people have been arrested under the MPO at this time and this law has been used even before the creation of Pakistan."

He further said that the more important thing is how people are being arrested. As seen in Usman Dar's case. When the police did not find him at home, his mother was harassed. This behavior is being done with many people which is against the law.


He explains that 'there is even a provision in the law regarding detention so that the dignity of a person i.e. the accused is not harmed.'

According to Asad Jamal, "The law says that every person should have access to justice and that is only possible when he knows what he is accused of."

Federal Minister of Information said that such people who were involved in the planning of the May 9 events will not be treated with any kind of exemption.
